Country Music - Jamie ONeal

If you ask Jamie O'Neal about her hometown, you could get any response. Jamie's parents were performers who met in Australia and formed their own band. Moving to the United States, they spent a lot of time traveling from city to city for different gigs. When she was eight, Jamie began singing with her parents along with her sister, Samantha. The family eventually moved to Nashville, only to separate when her parents divorced; and Jamie moved to Los Angeles with her father. Returning to Nashville once again, O'Neal found work as a demo singer for a brief time before moving to Australia with her mother. It was Jamie's mom who submitted her daughter's demo tapes to Nashville and landed her a deal as a songwriter. Her skills didn't go unnoticed, and O'Neal was soon a sought after songwriter in the industry. Her songs were cut by LeAnn Rimes and Chely Wright. By the year 2000, Jamie married husband Rodney Good, and released her first album. Her powerful voice and songs were an immediate sensation, bringing her stardom with "There is No Arizona" and "When I Think About Angels". Those songs received Grammy nominations, and earned her the title of Top New Female Vocalist by the Academy of Country Music. O'Neal took a break from performing after having her first child, but continued to write songs. During that time, she wrote "How Far", the hit single recorded by Martina McBride. Maintaining her star status, Jamie returned with hits like "Trying to Find Atlantis" and "Somebody's Hero", a song which portrays her maturity and emotions of motherhood.
