Country Music - David Kersh
Born Charles David Kersh on December 9, 1970, in Houston, Texas, David Kersh began playing the Texas Dance Hall circuit in his early 20's. His interest in music came from his father, Charlie Kersh, who played in a garage band. David's father and grandfather started the first radio station in Humble, Texas, where David spent a lot of time learning about music and stereo equipment. A good-mannered, humble Texan, Kersh loved being on stage and entered many contests during his youth. The dance hall circuit brought him a following, capturing Nashville's attention, and David signed to Curb Records in January 1995. In 1996 he released his debut CD, Goodnight Sweetheart, followed by If I Never Stop Loving You in 1998. His rise to stardom, however, took a downfall in 1999, when Kersh suffered from vocal strain and spent the next couple years caring for his voice in an effort to maintain his strong vocals. His return brought back a stronger sound, and Kersh joined Rhett Akins, Daryle Singletary, and Chad Brock in 2004 forming the Honky Tonk Tailgate Party. Still signed with Curb, Kersh posted a undated letter to his fans on his website affirming his love for music and his fans, while closing the chapter on his career stating the business side of the music industry has taken the enjoyment out of his music.
