Country Music - David Frizzell

The younger brother of country artist Lefty Frizzell, David Frizzell was born on September 26, 1941, in El Dorado, Arkansas. At the age of 12, David hitchhiked to California to join his Lefty's show. He toured with his brother throughout the 60's, leaving for a stint in the US Air Force. Upon his return in 1970, David began making a name for himself with the release of two singles which broke into the country Top 40. In 1973, David joined Buck Owens' All American TV Show, before touring with his brother Allen and Allen's wife, artist Shelly West. David and West performed several duets, including "You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma" and "A Texas State of Mind". From 1980 to 1982, the West/Frizzell duo racked up several Duo of the Year awards. David Frizzell claimed his first number one solo single in 1982 with "I'm Gonna Hire a Wino to Decorate Our Home". His solo career produced two more Top Tens: "Lost My Baby Blues" and "Where are You Spending Your Nights These Days". After that time, he and West recorded hit duets in 1984: "Silent Partners" and "It's a Be Together Night.
