Country Music - Darryl Worley
Born on October 31, 1964, in Pyburn, Tennessee, Darryl Worley spent his childhood moving from one town to the next after this father joined the ministry. Worley became quite an athlete, until he broke his back in high school while playing basketball. He majored in biology at the Northern Alabama University, became a biologist and eventually opened his own chemical supply business. But Worley, who had been singing and writing songs all this time, wasn't happy. He left his weekly paycheck and career to try his hand at music in Nashville. EMI offered him a publishing deal, while he continued to drive back and forth to Nashville to perform in bars. Worley's debut "Hard Rain Don't Last" was released in 2000, with the three singles edging into the Top 15. In 2002, the title track to his sophomore album, "I Miss My Friend", hit the top of the charts. A strong supporter of the United States military, he visited troops in Afghanistan. "Have You Forgotten?", a song based on the experience and the declining support of Americans for the war. "Have You Forgotten" quickly hit the top of the charts and has become a signature song. Worley continues to visit troops overseas as an expression of his support.
