Country Music - Collin Raye

Collin Raye began performing with his mother when he was seven years old. Born Floyd Collin Wray August 22, 1959, Raye's mother was also a performing singer, opening shows for late stars Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. Collins was 13 when he and his brother, Scott, formed their own band, The Wray Brothers, and began performing in Texas. They duo recorded a couple independent singles, and it was Collin's tenor vocals that attracted the Nashville majors. The Wray Brothers broke up in the mid-80's, and Collin came close to leaving the music industry when his children were born in the mid-80's because he wanted to be available to raise his children. He stuck it out and began a solo career in 1990. One year after signing with Epic Records, he hit the number one spot with "Love, Me", and had an extraordinary 21 Top 10 hits in the next decade. His children are an important part of his life, and both of them have been featured in his music videos. Also a prolific songwriter, Collin wrote his hit, "I Think About You" about his teenage daughter. Another notable hit in his career is "Little Rock" , a touching song about an alcoholic and his recovery. Collin Ray won the ACM Video of the Year Award in 1997. He is divorced and lives next door to his children and ex-wife in Greenville, Texas.
