Country Music - Clay Walker

A devoted family man, Clay Walker has overcome challenges and obstacles in his career and in his life. Born August 16, 1969, he grew up in Beaumont, Texas, playing the guitar with his father and uncle. When he was a teenager, he decided to make a homemade demo tape and started distributing it to local radio stations. Walker was discouraged after submitting a tape to one station because there was little immediate response. However, on his way home, discouragement turned to excitement when he heard the song being played on the radio. His first release "What's It to You" climbed to number one in 1993. Other number one hits include "Live Until I Die", "Then What", and "Chain of Love". Walker faced the greatest challenge of his life in 1996 when he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which has since gone into remission. Since then, his perspective on life has matured, and it is reflected in his songwriting. His motto is "all things in moderation", and Walker's has worked his schedule to meet that motto. He still tours, making sure that he spends plenty of time at his farm in Texas with his wife and children. Even while on the road, Walker and his band make sure they take time to relax and enjoy life. The group enjoys a round of golf when they roll into town. He and his band continually support the cause against MS.
